Children’s Services Review of Grants and Contracts FAQ's and letter

Big lottery news- improving futures! - On the 9 March the Big Lottery launched the Improving Futures Fund.

Introduction to the site

These pages have been developed to allow providers and potential service providers to have a better understanding of why we aim to provide world class commissioned children’s services across Leeds and how we expect our commissioning process to work to ensure that we provide the best possible services to children and young people across the city.

What is the commissioning prospectus?

The commissioning prospectus is the first to be developed by Children Leeds. It sets out our programme of activities for the financial year 2010/11 and identifies our preparations and broad intentions for our programme of work for 2011/12 and beyond. Further work will take place in the year with colleagues in the council and with external partners to further develop commissioning strategies and frameworks in line with both a One Council approach to commissioning within the local authority and in support of joint commissioning with partner organisations.

Our aim for this prospectus is to:

  • Help focus commissioning activity around key priorities for the coming year and provide support for improving consistency in our commissioning practice.
  • Raise awareness and understanding for all those working within children’s services of the commissioning approach in the context of changing service landscapes, public spending changes and developing arrangements in children’s services both locally and nationally.

For those currently providing services this site will set out our commissioning aims and practice to further the development of effective working relationships. We hope that this will also assist current providers in their business planning cycles and organisational development planning. For potential new providers, or for those moving to a commissioning relationship, we hope the information here assists in the preparation of plans and tenders for services.

Where can I view the commissioning prospectus?

You can find answers for some of the F.A.Qs through the links below:

What other information can I find on this site?

The information on these pages complement the newly developed Children’s Services Commissioning Prospectus. We hope that the commissioning prospectus will help all of our current providers with their business planning cycles and organisational development planning. For potential new providers the information within the prospectus should assist in the preparation of plans and tenders for services.
