Refugee Week 2010 is from 13th to the 21st June. Leeds Refugee
Forum is coordinating the events across the city with the support of its
volunteers. To see the different events happening through the
week, check the harmonious
communities calendar. A flyer for events can also be downloaded from
the right hand side of this page.
Refugee Week is a great way
of celebrating the contribution refugees have made to arts, culture,
economy
and wider society and marks Leeds’ commitment to stronger, more
harmonious
city. The rich and varied
programme of events highlights not only the part played by refugees, but
also
reminds us of our proud history of welcoming them and the immense value
of
tolerance. Behind all the negative headlines live real people building
new
lives, and new contributions to Leeds and beyond.
“Together for Leeds” is the
big culture day open day, everyone is welcome to attend. It is aimed at
bringing
together a wide variety of people to enjoy music,
dance food and culture celebrating the diversity in Leeds.
