What is the Anti Social Behaviour Unit (ASBU) doing in your area? 

About us?

Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Unit is a Leeds City Council Service.

Leeds City Council believe that everyone that lives, works or visits the city has a basic right to enjoy peace and quiet in their own home, feel safe and secure and not have to suffer or tolerate the anti social activities of others.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Unit brings together experienced staff from Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Police and a broad
range of partner organisations to effectively prevent and resolve anti-social behaviour.

Reporting your anti-social behaviour problem

If you rent your home from Leeds City Council or any housing association in Leeds:
You must in the first instance report the problem to your housing office.  Leeds City Council tenants can report problems on the following numbers.

Where problems persist you should report the problem direct to Leeds City Councils ASB Contact Centre on  0113 222 4402
(Mon to Thurs: 7.30am to 6pm, Friday: 7.30am to 4.30pm).

If you rent your home from a private landlord or agency:
You must in the first instance report the problem to your landlord. Where problems persist you should report the problem direct

If you own your home:
Report the problem to Leeds City Councils ASB Contact Centre on 0113 222 4402 (Mon to Thurs: 7.30am to 6pm, Friday: 7.30am to 4.30pm).

REMEMBER - Our helpline allows you to speak to someone about persistent anti-social behaviour. It is not an emergency response line.  In an immediate emergency call 999

What happens next?

When the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit receive a call about persistent and serious anti-social behaviour, our first priority will be to establish all the facts.

We will discuss your concerns with you - in the strictest confidence, liaise with your Landlord and partner agencies as appropriate to clarify actions already taken, and conduct an investigation to determine what further actions could be taken to resolve the situation.

Types of action could include:

• Setting up mediation sessions
• Referring those committing anti-social behaviour to diversionary activities or support.
• Using acceptable behaviour contracts to deter the person or group from persisting with their activities
• Securing injunctions against individuals
• Using anti-social behaviour orders to prevent the person or group from persisting with their activities

REMEMBER - You can help by reporting problems as soon as possible. Keep detailed notes of dates and times of incidents, along with the details of anyone else who witnessed them.

Persistent anti-social behaviour from a person or a group of people in your community can
cause significant alarm, harassment and distress.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Unit aims to help anyone who is suffering because of persistent and serious anti-social behaviour, for example:

Persistent verbal abuse or threats
Assault or physical harassment
Racial harassment
Homophobic harassment
Damage to property or graffiti
Vandalism to or near your home

The councils ASB Contact Centre allows you to speak to someone, in confidence, to report anti-social behaviour in your community.
